LEGO® Friends Pet Accessories Shop - 42650 - New release January 2025 - Brick Banter review

Maybe An accessory for your LEGO City?

LEGO Friends continues for another year, and we’ve been slated with the whole first wave of 2025. Taking a look into the Pet Accessories Shop, how does LEGO Friends hold up for 2025’s first wave?

LEGO® Friends Pet Accessories Shop 42650 January 2025 - B

Pet Accessory Shop

The LEGO Friends Pet Accessory Shop is one of the more funky and personality driven buildings of the wave, with a very big face telling us why. There is a subtle shape I’m not sure was intended; the shop’s window frame, door frame and birdhouse platform almost come together to make a dog. Might be a stretch, but it’s what I saw.

Otherwise, the outside of the building gives us poseable dog eyebrows and eyes. We also get a lovely big bow, as well as a white picket fence and tree on the left side. Once we move past the novelty of the dog with the set, there isn’t all the much to keep us entertained.

Spinning the set around however gives a life, four pet accessories, a pet bath and play yard. We also have a feeding station and brushing area too. There is a lot here to play around with as elements go, and the shop gives us 7 head accessories to swap around and a ball of yarn to play with. With three figures and three animals, the set feels pretty full, but I’m left feeling, longing?

Verdict

The set sells itself as an accessory shop for pets, and as much as I love the crazy building the set gives us, I’m left unsatisfied. I’m not sure what it is. Is it the tree not feeling tall? Maybe the weight of the build to one side? Is it that it feels more like a pet shop rather than a pet accessory shop? I don’t know. I don’t not recommend it, but I’m uncertain.
