Something every racing fan has begged for and what’s not to love with the new LEGO x F1 crossover series? From their own dedicated line in LEGO ICONS to the LEGO City sets we have here, let’s see how these hold up. The biggest set of them all – let’s race right into it!

Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 & Aston Martin Aramco AMR24 F1 Race Cars

Our RB20 racer is probably one of the more iconic racers out of the LEGO F1, and putting it in the largest set feels appropriate. The colour palette is easily recognisable, especially well done considering that other models with three colours or more have suffered a bit. There is still something to be desired in those prints that happen on black, but that’s a quality issue more than a design issue.

The Aston Martin is the opposite of the RB20, a colour palette almost entirely of one colour. The simplistic colour design makes this an easy translation to brick form, but isn’t as ‘exciting’ to me admittedly.

F1 Truck

The F1 truck is the main focus of the set, large enough to contain the two vehicles and all the figures with ease. The truck is garnished with a fantastic design of the lego, legos, formula, 1, f1, city, new, release, review, brick, banter, set, 2025, january cars of the wave – solidifying their design into detail. There is also the F1 logo on each door, and the stickers within for a driving simulator.

Allowing the racers to get some good down time in, when stuck on the road they can work! The sides of the truck fold down with small stairs, and even open at the rear to reveal a ramp. There’s lots of small details wedged wherever they can.

Even when the trailer is disconnected, the truck has a really good build on it’s own. The use of masonry bricks for the front grille, as well as the fact it tips forward to reveal an underside too!

Minifigures

If you’ve got the other sets from the wave, some of these LEGO Minifigures are of no surprise. However, for those who want just one set and nothing further – here’s your sampler pack of the previous models.

Verdict

This is the biggest set of the wave, and feels like a must have for any F1 collector. However, if your purchase is for children (and I mean plural), this set is maybe not the right move. Don’t get me wrong – this set is great! But for bit more money on top of this, children could get three cars, a pit stop and a garage that allows them to race.

This is a set good for display, or for a single child. As a father of two, I know this’ll cause fights when someone wants to drive the truck and the other person has to wait.
