LEGO Ideas Twilight The Cullen House 21354 - February 2025

“If I could dream at all, it would be about a LEGO version of myself” – Edward Cullen, Twilight

Twilight may be a series that hasn’t been on many folks minds recently, but the 2008 to 2012 series of movies launched into a popularity that rivalled Harry Potter. With 3.36 billion dollars (US) in the box office worldwide. Where some think wizard correlates to Harry Potter, for many, Vampires mean Twilight. Although I am not the target of this set, there is no doubt in my mind on how much of a blessing this is to a lot of Twilight fans.

21354 - LEGO® Ideas Twilight The Cullen House - February 2025

The LEGO Ideas Cullen House & Ground Level

The LEGO Ideas Twilight Cullen House model is a large, sleek and surprisingly clean shaped model. Far too used to the studs that LEGO City gives me, the house has little vertical studs. The exterior of the house has a nice dark green and brown colour palette, interwoven in the base up to the top of the trees. We also get speckles of olive greens and dark browns, which immediately gives us a earthy forest.

Although it is entire for show, I do like the design of the garage door, using the reverse side of masonry bricks for horizontal breaks. Behind the garage however we have a bookshelf and piano, which drops the illusion almost immediately from above.

Inside the ground floor we are given the Grand Piano, an iconic scene from the films, a bookcase, planters and stairs. There’s lots of room to pose figures on this floor to recreate scenes from Twilight, as well acknowledge the very dynamic angled door.

Level 1

The First Level of the Twilight Cullen House gives a huge pop of colour with the dark orange, giving us multiple new recolours to create a very specific angled wall. On one side, we see a small lounge, fireplace, photos and even baseball bats on a stickered element on the wall. When moving to the other side, we find out kitchen/dining combo, with sink, faucet, stovetop and chairs.

Adjoining to this floor from below, the staircase terminates under the stairwell that takes us up and above to the next floor. Each floor feels distinctly different, and that’s something I appreciate in a set like this.

It’s also worth noting that we also get ourselves and exterior balcony, which is beautifully shaped and easy to miss the angled form.

Level 2

The second and final floor of the model is Edward’s bedroom. Bedroom? Is it called that when he cannot sleep? Here we get a number of records, wall art, post it notes, old radio and even a bathroom with tub!

What is really nice about this particular level is the colder and calmer aesthetic of greys and whites. This makes this room again a unique feel to previous floors. And although not absolutely necessary, LEGO went through the effort in making ceiling lights and even an embedded air conditioning unit!

The Red Truck

Emma Swan’s Twilight truck is a surprisingly faithful recreation of the truck used for the movie scenes. The blocky aesthetic, flat bonnet and rear tray all properly align themselves with the real version. With a lot of Speed Champions up LEGO’s sleeve, part of me wonders if they might have been able to make small printed or stickered elements for the car’s indicators to break up the rounded red bonnet.

Wolf

The wolf for this set is Jacob’s own werewolf transformation displayed in the films. Initial thoughts was that this wolf felt far too big, but Jacob’s werewolf form is actually staggeringly large. It may be possibly a tad too large, but nowhere near as too large as I initially thought. The eyes of the wolf are also unique printed elements, which contain both tones of brown in a nice manner.

Minifigures

Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, Carlisle Cullen, Alice Cullen, Charlie Swan and Rosalie Hale are the figures for this set, with a lot of things to talk about.

Jacob, Charlie and Bella are our three non-vampires in the set, giving us common outfits throughout some of the scenes of the film. What is also good to note here is Jacob’s torso, debuting a new dual moulded arm!

With the vampires, the characters all come with dual-sided heads, giving versatility as to how they are displayed. Edward also stands out from amongst his kin with unique sparkle effect that is only for him.

Each figure comes with unique well dressed attire, and if it wasn’t in a set so hard to get, I wouldn’t mind these torsos for other projects. Their heads are also fine additions, but I can’t help but wonder how LEGO-generic they feel when they aren’t in their vampire form.

Verdict

This set is something fans have asked for for a long time. The build is very nice, as was the build experience. Each floor brought something unique to the scene, and there are plenty of ways to display the set.

That being said, from an outsider perspective and a long-time LEGO fan, $350 AUD does seem steep. Most models around this price point in the System style of building often have 300+ more parts. That’s including licensed themes.

This is surely the fact that this is a licensed property, and probably a once-in-a-lifetime type of set release. True fans won’t be swayed by the price and will understandably pick this set up as soon as possible. If you’re passionate, that’s what you’ll do for any set. But if you get this on a double VIP or a discount, that’d be a smart bargain.
