Jetting into the fray – the Quinjet!
The LEGO Marvel Avengers Age of Ultron Quinjet has had a few iterations over the years, but with each change, comes more parts. LEGO has ramped up the amounts of new moulds, shapes and curves since their last Quinjet. So how does it hold up with all these new parts? Read on!
The Quinjet
Since our last LEGO Marvel Quinjet model, LEGO have introduced us to a variety of new slope and curve elements, and it shows. There is a much more unique curvature to this model than any other previous. I also do like the use of the new 1×2 tile with wedge being clipped in sideways for the vents, as it creates a powerful effect.
There are a fair few stickers in this model too, so be prepared. But from these detail elements, there is detail where you wouldn’t expect, the underside! Yes, there are even shaping and sticker effects all underneath the model.
Within the model, we get ourselves some weapons storage, various screens, storage for the bike and seating for a few figures too.
Admittedly, I don’t remember there being that much red on the Quinjet – but when you look at the source material, there it is! The designers of this set took quite a lot of care for their work and adherence to source material that it really elevates this onto another level.
Black Widow with her motorcycle
For anybody who has a previous Quinjet, this bike is nothing new besides stickers. A quick little four part build, but better to have it than not!
Minifigures
The LEGO Minifigures included in this set are Quicksilver, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Iron Man and Ultron.
We haven’t gotten a Quicksilver for over 10 years, and this one being significantly closer to the actor than the previous. We get a new torso, new face print and I think new hair too.
Hawkeye and Iron Man get the same upgrades they got in 76291 – The Age of Ultron Diorama. Small quality of life improvements, such as helmets and bows. All good things.
Black Widow, honestly, hasn’t changed much over the years. This is a more simplified outfit of hers and opts for the over-the-shoulder-hair instead of her normal hair.
Ultron is the big winner here – a new shiny silver version of him. It’s a shame we don’t get his skull-cap that his other version had, which is weird considering his neck element is still in use.
Verdict
Overall, this is a really polished set for display and play.
Although the set is marketed as a 12+ set, which may be true for build techniques and parts, this feels like a great display for adults.
The stand may leave some things to be desired – but the jet more than distracts from it. I wouldn’t personally pose my figures with the stand, but more so put them into action attaching the posing bars to the jet.
100% recommend.
