The Car

The LEGO Disney Cruella De Vil’s Car car has me immediately thinking two things.

One, this looks really good and polished!

Two, this is too big.

Cruella’s car is equipped with enough seats to theoretically hold up to four LEGO Minifigures. There’s interior detailing, a grandiose horn, perfect angry headlights and even removable canopy roof.

But the real kicker with this set is the functional steering. Albeit unexpected on my part, the car’s spare wheel can be rotated to turn the front wheel, which I love. There’s something about this car that just feel incredibly polished. And I love those balloon elements over the front wheels.

Something maybe not intended, but removing these elements and the canopy can also re-enact her road rage!

But alas, the car feels too big compared to a LEGO Minifigure. This feels more like a model to display and have Cruella as a bonus, but her intention to sit at the wheel says otherwise. If you see this for a Disney Car set rather than a minifigure vehicle, it’s fantastic.

Cruella LEGO Minifigure

If you’re familiar with the CMF line, you’ll know that Cruella had a previous minifigure incarnation. The Dalmatian here is one of Patch’s siblings, Penny.

Cruella sports a new face print, dual sided too. But as far as her outfit goes, it is actually a downgrade. Her legs no longer sport side leg printing, she is missing her shoulder coat and is otherwise the same. I do wish one of her alternate faces was the insane face she makes when road raging.

Verdict

Overall, the set is an incredibly well sculpted car with a high amount of detail put into it.

If you look past this being a minifigure scale vehicle, it is a fantastic piece to display on a shelf. Cruella is an unfortunate step down, but for a first figure in a set, it isn’t too bad.

With a small modification, this model might not be a bad mini-doll vehicle…hmm.

It’s a good set, maybe wait until you can shave a little off the price tag however.
