LEGO Technic Ferrari SF-24 F1 Car 42207 Review New Release Review Brick Banter - March 2025

A new LEGO Technic Ferrari F1 to add to your garage of Supercars!

With such a huge focus on Formula 1 this year, LEGO are hitting all the stops on trying to bring this theme to the forefront. This time around, we get ourselves a LEGO Technic Ferrari SF-24 F1 Car on the line up. How does it hold up?

42207 - LEGO® Technic Ferrari SF-24 F1® Car - March 2025

The Technic Techniques

Bounding straight into the technical Technic, holy heck there is a lot going on here with this Ferrari. From working gears, suspension system (on a low to the ground car) and a 6 cylinder engine, it’s got what it needs to make it feel like a machine. Many LEGO Technic car folks will see this as commonality, but this makes my head hurt. Great job!

Playability

Erring into the realm of play features and accessibility, we get ourselves a removable engine cover to see the Ferrari gears at work. You steer the vehicle up high with the dial at the top, avoiding any issues of having to stick your hand deep in the driver’s seat. You can also move the rear wing to help slow you down when braking.

Around the Ferrari

A LEGO Technic model of this size, there are surely a lot of elements used in the fuselage! With lots of large elements in the repertoire, I was surprised to see how many interlocking elements there were just around the driver’s seat alone. With a mix of rubberised elements, stickers and logos, there’s a lot to do.

The exterior of the vehicle, it hits its mark darn well. The wheels aren’t different sizes on this model, unlike some LEGO Speed Champions F1 sets, but they make a bold statement with the striking Ferrari red and yellow in the mix. The body feels very fleshed out, and yet hollow where it needs to be. It feels like a faithful recreation, but with layers of complexity in the heart of the build.

Verdict

For LEGO Technic people, this seems like one hell of a challenge to go through. I learnt quite a substantial amount about the medium that I often don’t engage with. For example, fixing a mistake that you made two bags is very difficult to fix.

If you’re into LEGO Technic cars, F1 or being a big collector for 2025 – buckle in. It’s a good set, but it’s an uphill battle for me.

For non-LEGO Technic people? This is probably one of the most parts intensive introductions to the medium – and mistakes can be costly. Going back multiple steps isn’t as easy in this model, which shows how well you need to pay attention.

Oh and surprisingly, no brick separator!
