One of the most iconic film comes becomes a LEGO Speed Champions set, the Time Machine from Back to the Future!

The LEGO Speed Champions Time Machine from Back to the Future is coming in January 2026! It’s one of the most iconic film cars of all time! Now, this is the 3rd time we have seen a LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine.

Of course, the first was the LEGO Ideas Back to the Future Time Machine back in 2013. And then in 2022 we got the LEGO Icons Time Machine.

Ok, so this LEGO set has literally just been announced the moment this article went out, so we haven’t been able to see the comments around this set yet. But, I have a prediction I want to chat about early.

The doors! Correct, the doors DO NOT OPEN. But no LEGO Speed Champions car has doors that open.

Yes I hear you, it’s such an iconic part of the DeLorean that should be included. But doing that with a LEGO set of this scale is also going to have its sacrifices. Take a look at the 2013 model. Obviously LEGO building techniques and new elements have come a long way in the past 12-years, so the LEGO Speed Champions model does look a lot smoother.

Having the doors opening, you will loose that smoothness. They’ll still need to create the frame of the windshield, which would mean a plate or something similar.

For this new model, I feel the LEGO designers have made a great choice by using a windshield element, and forfeiting the doors. Which, is in theme with all other LEGO Speed Champions.
