A pitstop worth taking your time with
Something every racing fan has begged for – and what’s not to love with the new LEGO x F1 crossover series? From their own dedicated line in LEGO ICONS to the LEGO City sets we have here, let’s see how these hold up.
LEGO Ferrari Car
As stated in other reviews, we’re going to gloss over the vehicles here. The smallest set of the wave for 2025 shares our thoughts on the design, and here we highlight the unique differences.
The Ferrari’s primary two tone colour palette works incredibly in its favour. All the cars share a design, but the simplicity of the colours on a model with so few parts makes the design more clean cut. The subtle addition of white is also fantastic, and doesn’t feel jarring at all.
The Pit Stop
Driving a vehicle into the pit stop and using the set’s play features to trap it in is such a satisfying thing I didn’t know I needed. By having a figure on each end of the large extended arms, the model closes up like a real pit stop. The figures aren’t quite as aligned with the wheels as we’d like. But it’s such a minor thing I can well and truly look past it.
Having access to a full pit crew of four, four extra wheels, the bolt fasteners and analytics. This set feels really fleshed out. If we were to take the large extending arms away, there still feels like there is things to look at. The space feels lively with detail. And I love it.
LEGO Minifigures
Coming across a set for $40 AUD with 5 figures is freaking fantastic, and it’s a set that needs that. Nothing too over the top, but darn does it work well.
Verdict
This is probably my favourite set of the wave. For the price point, the functionality and how well it fits in to the overarching theme. I 100% recommend this.
