Hungry for a Fortnite snack? Well duuuuuurrr!
A sequel to the LEGO Fortnite Durr-Burger build of last year, what better way to step it up with a full restaurant? With three new figures, a Fortnite location to battle it out (for a snack) and lots of accessories to boot. Does it hold up? Read on!
The Durrr Burger Restaurant
Stepping us into the world of LEGO Fornite, we get ourselves a set that almost would feel right at home within the LEGO City line. Albeit with no designated drive through, there is an exterior ordering screen for vehicles.
We also get two seats under a LEGO Fortnite Durrr Burger themed parasol that looks… right into my soul? Atop the restaurant however we are treated to an enormous sign and the iconic Durrr at the top. Both of these parts of the restaurant honestly make it a really good impression on me. It feels right.
But alas that is not all. We are also given some resources to gather outside, as well as explosives, swords and shields.
Yet here I am describing what I see – but there is a part of me that feels like something is…missing? Taking a look at the in-game source of inspiration, LEGO have done an incredibly good job at recreating the iconic look of the lower floors of the shop. But the model seems a little too small for the items that are here?
Don’t get me wrong – there is a lot to like and play to be had. But it doesn’t feel like a location to ‘fight it out’ with other players – let alone share the space inside with two Minifigures. I feel like the set could have benefitted from a $10 price boost to give it more width and stretch it out a bit more.
Its undeniably well done for a set as is, but makes me want more.
Minifigures
The figures included in this set are Beach Bomber, Beef Boss and Grimey, as well as skeleton. Of the figures in this set, only two of them stood out to me intially, having to do a proper google of who Grimey was.
Beach Bomber is a character recognisable enough, mixed with the Loot Llama decal on her torso like the Brite Bomber. The most iconic character of the set is Beef Boss – a Durr-Burger-headed person. The figure is pretty good translation of the game character, albeit without the deep red boots the in game version has.
Grimey is a character that is unfortunately the weakest of the three. With a black hoodie and solid black pants – the character never really had much details to begin with. With each kill in game a head would spectrally be added to their outfit – with this player have 3 to their name. I originally though the character wore a mask before looking it up and discovering the pale blue represent a glow from the hood and the ‘mask’ was their true head.
As much as I love the creativity of the character choice here, I don’t think Grimey fits well. He’s too dark a contrast with the bright colours of the set, and doesn’t have the details to make up for it.
Verdict
The LEGO Fortnite Durrr Burger Restaurant is a set that is certainly not without its faults. With such an iconic part of the Fortnite universe crammed into a small set, it really begins to realign as to who the target audience is. This isn’t a set for adult collectors but kids who play the game. Re-enacting fights in around the restaurant is unfortunately a play experience I don’t see happening with the set as is.
I wish that there was something more that could be added to make it feel more fulfilling like the other two sets of this wave.
