A towering Mecha with towering expectations…
LEGO Fortnite continues strong into 2025 and with the largest set now here! The LEGO Fortnite Mecha Team Leader is on par with being a Fortnite icon alongside LEGO Fortnite Klombo and the LEGO Fortnite Battle Bus. But how does this mech hold up to these other two models? Is it worth your Vbucks? Read on!
The Mecha
The LEGO Fortnite Mecha Team Leader stands far above the other LEGO Fortnite sets in terms of size, with one leg being almost the same length of the Battle Bus!
From striking greens on one arm to the silly chain restaurant feet at the bottom, there is a lot to look at. Non-Fortnite fans will find themselves confused, but Fortnite fans love the hodgepodge mishmash that is this character/mech. Yes, both.
We unfortunately suffer from the same thing most LEGO mechs suffer from, no bending knees. I was a little surprised by this, given the size of the model would have been able to make these allowances. We get a large intermixing of technic and brick here, mainly in the waist and shoulder joints. There is a lot of tension at these points to allow for proper pose-ability, which is an absolute given with this set. It’s just strange that we couldn’t of had something similar in the legs instead of straight shapes. Maybe I’m missing something here?
The centre canopy also opens up for our mech pilot to be tucked away – but why would you? This is a set that covers the entire centre canopy and hides them completely. It’s better to have our pilot alongside the stand for display.
The Sword
The Sword for the LEGO Fortnite Mecha Team Leader model gets its own category, mainly cos I think that it needs it. This has a mix of vibrant translucent colours and pinks, beautifully made for a unique visual. I also love LEGO’s quick little addition of P.I.X.A.L.’s hair from LEGO Ninjago on the hilt!
Minifigure
The Minifigure for this set is the Mecha Team Leader figure – fitting for the model at hand.
Although on a much smaller scale than the mech, this figure gives us some detail in arm printing, unique limb printing and even a new moulded head. The figure, like all other LEGO Fortnite figures, is scaled back in detail for the proper figure release, but still has the details of the faces on his toes, which I love.
It’s a very unique figure all round, but wont see any usability for parts outside of this theme.
Verdict
Overall, this is a set that, as far as I can see, is faithful to the game.
I am a little disappointed that the legs are unable to move, but looking beyond this, this is a set of quality.
I’m sure there are plenty of Fortnite Fans that would be interested in buying this – just prepare for the price tag that comes with such a big set.
