LEGO Disney and Pixar WALL-E and Eve 43279 New Release Review Brick Banter

Brought to you by LEGO and Buy-And-Large!

Straight out of 2008 and not in Brickheadz form, LEGO finally give us a LEGO Disney and Pixar WALL-E and EVE duo! With the previous version of WALL-E boasting a bigger size and less characters, how does this do? Read on!

43279 LEGO Disney and Pixar WALL-E and Eve

M-O

M-O comes in this set as a little added bonus, which is always a good thing! His very iconic annoyed face is capture perfectly, and can be easily flipped around if you want him to be happier.

The arms for M-O reach the ground to allow them to roll the 3 gear elements on the ground. Recreating them cleaning the ‘foreign contaminant’ scene for the scene perfectly.

An unintended feature, but builders can easily remove the red plates from their head to be able to make them have the siren retract down for display too!

EVE

EVE is the model that I would say is the hardest to convey in LEGO by far, the shapes and curves are incredibly complex. But alas, LEGO have managed to make it so that their arms fold up to the body, but also have play function too!

By removing the front panel of the model, you can store the boot accessory of the set within them for retrieval, a nice detail I didn’t expect for EVE. There is also a great range of motion for EVE’s limbs, with the arms connected by a double ball join connection. It’s a simple and surprisingly simple technique – I approve.

I am also very please EVE’s face is printed on one element instead of two.

WALL-E & Hal

WALL-E is significantly smaller than his previous large scale model version, but there’s a lot to love here. For one, WALL-E’s arm range of movement is significantly improved with some great internal planning.

LEGO have allowed the figure to move the arm forward far enough that they can grab the cube accessory to represent crushing trash into cubes. The build is just small enough to fit within the body cavity too, but looks great.

The model also gives us a large range of motion with WALL-E’s lens like the film. We also have the ability to manipulate them a limited 120 degree turn left and right.

There are lots of scratched details across the model that really accentuate the worn down condition they are in, and despite not being a single yellow colour. The two tones are not that obvious when the model is complete.

The only thing I don’t like about WALL-E is their eyes. Something is just…unsettling about them.

Verdict

Overall, I think the set is pretty great!

I will admit that I have the previous large version of WALL-E, and despite that being my preference, this is a great set.

It comes with three characters (technically four!), gives them to you with play and interaction in mind, and doesn’t cost a lot. The old WALL-E may be dropping in price, but this is more than 1/2 the cost for more figures.

Recommend!
