August 2026 gives us a new slew of LEGO Speed Champions sets for us to enjoy! With a lineup of cars ever growing to make any dealership look jealous, each new car on the block feels ever more scrutinised. As we get more and more cars, does the standard drop? Read on and find out!

BMW M3 (E30)

Featuring a heavy box car like design, this is a set I feel like LEGO designers would have had a great time designing. But don’t let the blocky aesthetic fool you, this is a set with some tricks.

I have built many Speed Champion sets before, and one of my biggest gripes have always been stickers. But this set gives us a number of new printed elements among the stickers that is admittedly, crazy.

With the subtle curves and corners of the car, we are treated to 2×2 rounded plates with prints on the side. Following that, we also have the BMW printing on the wheels too. I haven’t seen such hyper-specific printing from LEGO in while.

Besides this point, the model has a crazy digital-like pattern across its body, highlighted through various stickers and prints across the hull. The design also extends into the brick, where LEGO have used coloured bracket elements and jumper tiles where possible.

Amongst what is otherwise a colourful build experience, LEGO also hide forks! Yes, right at the front of the car, the front grill uses forks for its design, and LEGO even sneak binoculars on the back too. Bravo.

Verdict

LEGO’s new BMW car is certainly one of the more blocky models I’ve seen of late, but looking at the source, seems to be the right call. It’s isn’t a model that provided much build experience, but seems like a fun colourful model to make.

Cars haven’t always been my thing, but this is certainly one of the more unique ones we have made over the years. The design is more basic, but that’s what it is. What you see if what you get.
