Catch some air with LEGO’s new Air Max 95!
LEGO have made well of their partnership with Nike with a large array of new sets in the last year alone. But with us jumping into 2026 means a new slew of possible sets. With this, the Nike Air Max 95 X LEGO Set. My thoughts in previous sets have always teetered on the though of ‘Is this display, play, or something else?’. Is this a set that follows it predecessors with a muddle of execution? How does this set feel to display on a shelf? Read on!
The Base & Air Text
The base of our Nike Air Max 95 X LEGO Set is an elaborate shoe-esque shape of colour, giving a hue of blues and purples. It is a striking array of colour, and its uniform yet non-uniform shape really elevates the build.
Although the attachment for the show is nothing new in the sport-shoe line of LEGO models, we do get ourselves nice brick-build text. We see a lot of newer moulds here, as well as the use of trans-satin-blue. There are numerous parts that are a first in the colour, let alone the overly bubble-like effect.
The base compartment of the display stand also gives us a small hide-away compartment, allowing for the figure to be placed away when not on display. Either that, or a space to hide your LEGO spending money. (Oh look, mine is already included!)
Air Max 95
The Air Max 95 shoe is a quite brick-heavy model, with the use of overlapping plate details and cheese slopes to get softer edges. This does mean we get a more LEGO-focused design, with considerably more studs than nay other shoe before.
There is also quite the fun array of printed elements and stickers intermixed here, but there are some standouts. For one, I like that the sole has the LEGO and Nike logo in it, as well as the ‘Airmax’ shield. The toe cap uses both stickers and prints, but takes away the difficulty of applying stickers at the roe with printed elements. Although the gaps between stickers and printed elements can be seen, it still works pretty okay overall.
One of my favourite parts of the model is the base with the air cushions. The titular ‘air’ part of the model.
This section of the model uses trans-clear elements atop bricks underneath to create a great bubble-like effect. We also get the introduction of a new element here – a 1x1x2/3 rounded dome element, akin to a cheese slop but curved on all but one side. Me likey!
LEGO Minifigure
Our LEGO Minifigure for the set isn’t amiss from the others we have gotten from previous shoe-related sets. We have a classic hood/hat combo, great torso printing and insane leg printing to boot. I also love that there is dual moulded arm printing that works incredibly well with the jumper torso. The side detailing of the shoes is the major highlight here.
Our character also comes with two heads, for both masculine and feminine representation.
Verdict
Although I may not be a shoe guy, this is a LEGO set that I really like.
The build experience is great, and the overall effects of the bubbles across the model have retained my focus well. It certainly has more of a display aspect to the model, and not trying to hard to be something in between play and display.
It may not be my thing, but if it is yours, I do give it a solid thumbs up.
