LEGO Minifigures Series 29 71052 New Release Review Brick Banter - 2026 March COVER

LEGO Collectible Series 29 – But first place in my heart.

We have had so many different series of LEGO minifigures over the years, and 2026 is shaping up to give us quite the shocking array of new ones. With this series here and a rumoured licensed one later, 2026 is looking great.

So we have a new array of 12 figures, from soccer players, fantasy AND OH MY GOD IS THAT BIONICLE?

Skip the intro! Read on for the review!

Soccer Goalkeepers

As for our first figure of the set, we get a really well coloured Soccer Goalkeeper. With the large number of rumoured LEGO Soccer sets coming this year, this is a great way to make an affordable entry-level to LEGO Soccer.

With a colourful array of clothing an a reprint of the LEGO Basketball piece, the figure stands well apart from the others in this series. It also works incredibly well with the Umpire in a previous CMF.

The face printing for this figure is my absolute favourite part, because the emotion and action is immediately recognisable and someone scoring or saving a goal.

Marine Biologist

Sporting a new hair mould and new fish mould, I can see this figure being one of the underrate standouts of the wave.

With her new moulded hair, the Snorkel actually doesn’t come off, which I was a bit sad to see. But it is a great part nonetheless. The torso and leg printings are great, but our headpiece is not exclusive.

This character also comes with a few extra pieces more than some figures, due to need extras to stand up on the stand.

Tuba Player

As someone who had to make a LEGO Tuba for the MYER Christmas windows LEGO display, seeing the Tuba here is amusing.

This is a fantastic moulded element, and would go great alongside this year’s Modular building. Aside from that, the printing is great for a marching band too!

Unicorn Elf

One of the Fantasy Hunter’s figures-to-get, the Unicorn elf gives us a new ‘princess dress’ design. The printing here is immaculate and I really like seeing the unicorn horn necklace on this figure. There is also an incredibly detailed yet subtle face detailing on the head, which I really like.

Also yes, that is Wonder Woman’s Hairpiece.

Monster Hunter

Oh good lord is this figure going to be hard to track down. The Monster Hunter, or as the poster implies, Vampire Hunter, is an insanely good figure. My second favourite out of the entire wave.

They have a freaking gun-blade, steampunk aesthetic, fabric waist elements and wanted posters. This is every D&D/High Fantasy/Steampunk builders go-to figure. 11/10

Robot T. Rex

When I saw this figure, I was immediately taken back to the classic robot-controlled dinosaurs and dog toys of my youth. As for a figure in the CMF line, this is such an incredibly good take on the character costume CMFs.

Not only do we get a double sided head to imply open/closed mouth, but the tail even has printing too! I can see some sci-fi builders loving this one.

Chocolatier

It has been a while since we have seen any type of baker in the CMF line, and this figure here is a welcome addition.

I really like the design of the pipette bag, as well as the chocolate dragon here too. My favourite though is the face print and new hat recolour, just for this figure!

Boba Cup Fan

Admittedly my least favourite figure of the line, the Boba Cup Fan figure is clearly a corporate slave. (Har har)

That being said, the allure of this character is the Boba mould that covers the figure, and much like the other suited foods, leaves nothing underneath.

It isn’t my favourite, but I’m sure it is out there to someone.

Bionicle Cosplayer

There is no part of me that can simply look at this minifig and not have overwhelming positive bias towards it.

Tahu, the Bionicle that the costume is based off, was my first Bionicle and first LEGO set that I owned. I still have the figure sitting in my LEGO space with me now, 25 years later.

Bionicle is 25 years old now, and this is a fitting way to give it a fantastic bit of representation and keep representation price point low.

I can also see a lot of Blood Angel Warhammer 40k fans looking at the mask and using it for their Space Marines. Good versatility!

Mysterious Ronin

The Mysterious Ronin is undeniably some form of Lloyd from Ninjago in an adult form. He has grown up, his face has sharp cheekbones, and he has ditched bright greens for earth greens.

I really like the detail of this figure, and am particularly intrigued to see how people will use the moulded headpiece in the future going forward.

Cute Witch

This particular figure is both of my kids favourite from the set. With a cute aesthetic, child like appearance and kitty-cat boots – this is an instant win for them.

I also enjoy getting new fantasy witch designs from LEGO, and I’m excited to explore the challenge of adding this in to the collection.

Trash Monster

One of the most surprising figures from the series, my initial thoughts of this was ‘blech’.

The trash monster has easily surprised me though, with a new mould of a fish skeleton, mouldy mushroom pizza and worms and bugs all over! I do like that there is a reoccurring theme of the mushrooms across the figure, both on the front of the legs and torso.

I am also a big fan of the rotting pumpkin head, giving a fun way to spice up any Halloween displays at home!

Verdict

When I look at all these figures together, all I can say is that I’m super hyped for this series.

Yes, I am biased towards our Bionicle Cosplayer figure, but this doesn’t carry the series alone. I love the fantasy figures, the dinosaur, the trash monster and the Monster Hunter most of all.

There is only one weak figure in the series to me, two if you count the Goalkeeper. But that’s just because I’m not a sports guy – but I can see its place in the series.

Solid Series. Highly Recommend. It may honestly be my favourite LEGO-branded series of them all. (LEGO D&D #1)
